🇬🇧 L’angolo dei lettori: Silverback, a new whisky and jazz bar in the heart of Geneva’s old town
Silverback, a new whisky and jazz bar, has recently opened in the heart of Geneva’s old town, in a former residence built in the 16th century. It is located at 3 Rue de l’Hôtel-de-Ville, next to the historic Ancien Arsenal, which houses five cannons.
Its Swiss owner has two passions: whisky and Rwanda. The bar is beautifully decorated, combining historical elements with a lush, tropical atmosphere inspired by Rwanda. The cosy underground jazz club features stone ceilings and walls. The bar boasts 260 whiskies, and guests receive The Whisky Bible, which describes Silverback’s curated whisky collection.
There is also a variety of unique and very tasty cocktails, such as the Golden Monkey, made with dark rum, peanut, banana, nutmeg and lime, or the Silverback, featuring Craigellachie 13-year-old Scotch whisky with cacao bean, apricot wine and raisin bitters. Silverback also offers whisky tasting flights, including one paired with Philippe Pascoët chocolate.
The small food items are a mix of Swiss specialities with Rwandan twists; for example, the Kigali rösti with bourbon BBQ sauce, the Malakoff with Rwandan spices, piquillos condiment, sriracha and paprika, or the Appenzeller chapatis with bourbon maple syrup.
The service is friendly, the live music is excellent, and Silverback is definitely worth a visit.
